<image:caption>Hi, I’m Chrystal! I live in Falling Waters, West Virginia with my husband and our children. I first learned about ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) in 2018, after our daughter Madilyn’s pool accident. I had no idea what it was, and looking back it is probably because of the lack of availability in our community. After Madilyn's passing, I knew that I wanted to do something to prevent drowning locally. Through ISR, I have found a way to continue her legacy and educate both children and parents with these invaluable skills. I will be the first instructor in our area and I am looking forward to teaching you and your child. My background includes a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Shepherd University. I also have my Master's Degree in Education:School Counseling. I have been an educator in Berkeley County, West Virginia since 2012, serving the community first as an elementary educator, and currently a high school counselor. I am trained in CPR, First Aid, and AED and in May of 2021, I spent six weeks completing my ISR Certification in Herndon, Virginia. Infant Swimming Resource is a resource that is necessary for our community as it is an extremely effective drowning prevention program. I am thrilled to be part of a team that not only teaches survival skills, but also aquatic problem solving. I look forward to meeting and serving your family soon!</image:caption>

      <image:title>What is ISR? - What is ISR?</image:title>
<image:caption>Founded in 1966 by Dr. Harvey Barnett, ISR is now the global leader in the industry it pioneered: survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. Our team of over 700 highly trained ISR Instructors provides the safest and most effective survival swimming lessons available. The ISR Self-Rescue™ instruction our students receive today is the product of over 45 years of research and achieves unparalleled results. ISR believes pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down, and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy and our over 300,000 ISR graduates and 800 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves. Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences; at ISR we take that ability and teach them skills to potentially save themselves if they find themselves in the water alone.
